I wandered my way through the day until lunch. That was when I met up with Kate to talk about the note.
We sat at a table outside. The rain had stopped, but it was still cloudy. I had my hood up as usual, and luckily, there weren't any teachers that had told me to take it off after eye shadow lady.
I nibbled at a sandwich I had brought from home. I gave the rest of the food to Kate, who would eat until she exploded if I let her.
"Ash, don't let all those breakup stories ruin your opinion on dating." Kate told me. "You never know. If you get together with this mysterious note writer, you could end up being together forever."
"You don't know that." I told her, tugging on my hood.
"No, I don't." she replied. "But by your logic YOU don't know either."
I simply rolled my eyes in reply and Kate smirked. She and I argued about stuff like this all the time.
I pushed a piece of my long, blond hair out of the way. My hair wasn't a bright nor a dark blond. It was more of an inbetween, and it came halfway down my back. Kate's hair was dark brown and curly. It only came down to her shoulders, though. Her hair looked really nice with her blue eyes in my opinion. I had light green eyes, which I found weird but Kate simply loved.
After lunch, I kept thinking about what Kate said. Maybe she was right, and dating wasn't all that bad. I smiled to myself and thought, 'well, there's only one way to find out.'
At this point, I was determined to find out who this note writer was.
*******
At 2:50, ten minutes before the bell, I finally realized something very important. The note writer would probably leave another note for me to read, and I would probably get it in ten minutes, when I could finally go to my locker!
I fidgeted about, trying to pass the time, but after what felt like twenty minutes, It was only 2:52. I sighed impatiently.
My teacher, Mr. Davidson, turned around and looked at me. "Is there a problem, Ms. Ray?"
"No sir." I said back.
"Okay then." he replied. "And take off that hood."
I growled and ripped my hood off, revealing my long blond hair to the class who had probably never seen it before.
The bell eventually rang. I pulled my hood back on, grabbed my things, and rushed to my locker, but was stopped by my best guy friend, Adam.
"Sup, Kenny." he smirked.
I growled. "Don't call me that."
"Whatever you say, hood girl."
"Shut up!" I yelled in frustration.
"Woah, calm down!" he said, flipping his shaggy blond hair. "Alright." he sat down. "Talk to me."
"Fine." I sat down. "This morning, someone left the sweetest note in my locker and I just really wanna find out who it is."
Adam looked me in the eye. "Have they left any more of them yet?"
"No." I buried my head in my hands.
"Let's go find out, then." he stood up. "Let's go to your locker."
Already, most of the people occupying the lockers around me had left. I entered my combination and opened my locker. BAM! Another orange envelope fell to the floor and onto my shoes. I eagerly grabbed it.
"Wow." Adam widened his eyes. Suddenly, I heard a loud beep from his pocket. He took his cell phone out and read the text message he had gotten. "Oh gosh, later Ash, I gotta go!" Adam took off at what looked like light speed.
I grabbed what I needed, shoved it all in my backpack, and took the note and ran into the girls' bathroom. I locked myself in a stall and opened the envelope. I unfolded yet another piece of notebook paper and read the surprisingly neat handwriting.
Ash,
me again. If only you knew who
I was. I'm going to give you a
small hint as to who I am. I
am addicted to Family Guy.
Lousy hint, I know, but how
else can I hint without
giving it away? Anyways,
I'm not sure how I stand
with you. You know, best guy
friend, that weird kid, etc.
I can't wait until you find out
who I am, then hopefully
you'll feel the same way I do.
And then, I hope we get to
be together as long as we
live. I hate being shy
PS, you'll receive
another note tomorrow
morning.
I groaned. Almost every guy in my school was addicted to Family Guy. At this rate, it would take months to find the author of these touching notes. Whoever this was really liked me, and I was starting to feel the same way.
