I have no idea how I got my homework done that night. I was too busy trying to convince myself I didn't like Adam. I wasn't very successful. I didn't even notice when Andy came into my room until he said my name. I snapped my head up to him.
"Ash, Mom's called your name three times." Andy laughed.
"Oh, sorry. I'm not hungry." I told him.
"Why?" he closed the door. "What's going on?"
"Promise you won't tell anyone?" I asked.
He sat on my bed. "I promise." he smiled.
I looked him in the eye. "I think I have a crush on Adam."
Andy laughed. I shot an evil look at him and he immediately stopped. "Sorry." he smiled.
"What should I do?" I asked him.
"Ask him out." he blurted.
I looked at him as if he had an inside-out nostril. "I don't want a boyfriend." I said. "That's why this bothers me. It's not ME who likes him, it's my brain."
"Hm. Tough situation."
"Yea. There's also someone who keeps leaving love notes in my locker. I think it's Jake." I sighed.
"Well, I don't know who that is." Andy said. "I will tell you this: don't count your chickens before they hatch."
I nodded in reply. I laid my head on his chest and hugged him.
Suddenly, my mom walked in. "Ash," she said. "Aren't you gonna come eat?"
I smiled. "Sure."

The next day, I opened my locker, expecting no note to fall, but a small green envelope did. I stuck in in my pocket for the fourth time, got my things, and got to homeroom. Oh, how I was starting to adore mornings. I had no idea what I was gonna do when I found out the author of these notes. I was in love with Adam, but I also kinda liked the author of these notes. 'Whatever happened to the old me?' I wondered. 'Just one week ago I said I never wanted love. Now I'm double-crushing!' I sighed as I pulled the new note out of my pocket.
I sliced it open and took out the folded up piece of notebook paper. I looked around and saw Jake eyeing me. 'Charlotte was right' I thought. I shook my head and read the note.
Ash,
Your next hint: I do not have red hair.
Very similar to last time, I know, but
you can only tell a person so much.
Anyways, I'm hoping that when you
find out who I am you won't be
disgusted. I don't blame you if you are,
though. I'm not the most attractive
person. I'm hoping that you'll think-
I crumbled the note. I didn't want this person to feel this way. I didn't want to feel this way. I'd made up my mind. I knew that Adam didn't feel the same as I did, and the author of these notes and I did. I took out a sheet of paper and began writing a note back.

After first period, I stuck my note (that I had written) into the green envelope and taped it to my locker. I had labeled it: TO ANONYMOUS, FROM ASH. The only thing I could do now was wait.
